To have your new Interim on the ground as soon as possible, our methodology ensures you have the right people to interview as well as the information you need to make the right decision. Interview candidates within 48 hours. Select your next Interim within 5 days!
Preliminary Discussion & Tentative Agreement
- Client Conference: Zoom or phone call with you to discuss the current vacancy, working environment, position's salary range and benefits, and the desired term of employment.
- Tentative Agreement: Read and sign the 'Notice of Intent' (NOI) to engage our services. Gov+Temps® won't contact interim team members until you're ready to proceed.
Preliminary Candidates
- Execution: With an executed NOI, Gov+Temps® contacts our interim candidates, determine availability and fit, and send you 3–5 bios and full resumes within 2 business days.
- Candidates' Bio Report: Each Candidate's Bio Report highlights the candidate's experience and education, current status, level of interest, and whether additional expenses (lodging, travel, mileage) might be expected.
Set for Interview
- Candidate Selection: After reviewing Candidates' Bio Report and having assessed qualifications and fit, you decide which candidates you'd like to interview and notify us. Gov+Temps® sets up interviews within 2 business days.
Interview & Select Interim
- Video Interview: Using the Gov+Temps® Video Conference Room, candidate interviews permit you effective personal engagements and the ability to select an Interim.
- Select Interim: Once your preferred candidate is selected, Gov+Temps® notifies and negotiates tentative terms with the selected interim. Tentative terms are reached between the City, the Interim, and Gov+Temps®.
Engagement Terms
- Engagement Agreement: Once terms have been agreed to by all parties, Gov+Temps® provides you with a draft Engagement Agreement (Exhibit A) from the Notice of Intent (NOI). The Engagement Agreement (Exhibit A) is executed by all parties.
- Interim Professional Services Agreement: Interim Candidate and Gov+Temps® execute an Interim Professional Services Agreement which details the terms of the engagement and the required Gov+Temps® Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.
Our Warranty
When you select and engage Gov+Temps® to provide one of the Interim Public Managers we recommend, we stand behind our commitment:
- Our entire team of Analysts and Consultants will 'back-stop' your Interim. If they need anything (contracts, sample agreements, data, etc.), we are here for them.
- If you are not satisfied with the interim candidate you hire, we will replace the candidate within 10 business days or within a period of time with which you are satisfied.
- We will not approach the Interim Public Manager concerning any other interim opportunity as long as the individual is employed by your agency.
- 10% discount in our Executive Search services through our affiliate Municipal Solutions.
Cost Structure
We strive for terms at or 'below cost' — below your total cost of compensation for the position. This means if your position's salary is $100,000/year and the City's additional personnel expenses for benefits is 30%, we will try to find you the best candidate below $130,000. Your preferred candidate might require additional expenses, but we would rather take a reduction in our percentage (the difference between our fee and the consultant's rate of pay) to earn your business.
Interim Consultant Fee
At or below the annualized total compensation for the position (salary + benefits), invoiced as a not-to-exceed monthly rate.
Service Fee
Generally 20% of the Interim Consultant Fee, billed monthly.
Additional Expenses (TBD)
Lodging, mileage, or travel expenses as needed — determined once you have selected your preferred candidate.
Sample Cost Calculation
Position: Interim Public Works Director.
Annual Salary: $115,524 – $143,040.
Benefits: 30%.
TOTAL PERSONNEL BUDGET: $185,952 ($15,466/mo).
Interim Cost Range: $12,515 to $15,466 per month.
On-Boarding & Ongoing Engagement
On-Boarding
Once the Interim is engaged, your agency provides an appropriate orientation to the work environment — staff, workspace, facilities, equipment, documents, communications, and ongoing introductions to external relationships — ensuring the Interim is effective from Day One.
Timesheets & Invoicing
Consultants maintain a daily timesheet and provide invoices per the terms of their contract.
Communications
Formal communication is done in writing; however, we encourage active, daily communication in person or by phone with the Interim. The consultant is obligated to maintain regular contact with Gov+Temps® officials — at least weekly — and notify us of any changes, successes, or potential risks within the engagement.
Confidentiality
All Gov+Temps® consultants and interims sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and are contractually obligated to maintain confidentiality regarding the engagement.
Expenses and fees associated with Interim Services will be invoiced bi-weekly or according to the terms of the contract.
